Dear Editor,
On behalf of the board of directors of Operation HELP, I want to acknowledge everyone who was involved in making this fall’s clothing drive a success.
That includes Trinity Lutheran Church and School and their principal, Allison Johnson, for allowing Operation HELP to use their facility. And without the many members of our community who donated goods for the drive, and the numerous volunteers who sorted and stacked the items, the event would not be possible.
We also want to acknowledge Lori Halvorsen for organizing and supervising the project. The clothing drive is held every fall, during the WEA week. It provides gently used winter and summer clothing items, shoes and boots, some household goods and coats, hats and mittens for adults and children. All items are donated by the community.
More than 80 family units were served this year, representing over 130 individuals. Any family in need of a warm winter coat, mittens or hats for children should contact Operation HELP or their school counselor, and the Warm In Winter program will provide what is needed.
The Operation HELP call center is available at (715) 386-0881 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays, 10 a.m.-noon, and on Thursday, 7-9 p.m.
