Community Action of Hudson will hold a special event, “On the Road with Community Action and Jason Davis,” commemorating the organization’s 25th anniversary Dec. 2 from 7-8:30 a.m.
The free celebration and campaign kickoff breakfast will be held at the Hudson Golf Club.
Jason Davis, an Emmy Award-winning television journalist who has spent more than 30 years at KSTP television, is host of its popular “On the Road” program. Davis is also a local resident and supporter of community programs that focus on youth. Just as he does on his television program, Davis will share a few stories at the Community Action breakfast about the unique people he meets in his travels.
Representatives from Community Action will also share stories about the challenges and achievements of working with local youth. Katie Brokaw, a University of Minnesota student, will give her recollections of participating in CA’s Youth Advisory Board and talk about its impact on her life. Debbie Luedtke, current CA board member and former staff member, will share her memories of working with the late Sandy Griswold, who developed CA’s SMART Mentorship program.
The breakfast program will include an unveiling of Community Action’s new name, logo and mission statement.
“We support local youth and connect them with positive opportunities that strengthen them and our community,” said Wendi Heuermann, CA’s executive director. “We want our name and mission to be clear about that.”
A special “road map” mural will be displayed that depicts CA’s 25-year history. It was designed by local muralists Kathy Kepulis and Liz Malanaphy with assistance from local youth. A silent action and drawing for a new bike from Art Doyle’s Spokes & Pedals will provide opportunities for participants to select holiday gifts and contribute to a worthy cause — Community Action programs that help youth build healthy lives and strengthen the community.
