Sale benefits Operation HELP
Mother Ventures, a home-based business in Somerset, will hold a fund-raiser Dec. 14 at the home of Shirley Nevala-Chavie, at 242 Harriman St., that includes other home-based businesses like Pampered Chef, Discovery Toys, custom made jewelry, floral arrangements, travel services and recycled wood products. Toys and Santa pictures
Applebee’s is holding breakfast and photos with Santa from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at the restaurant, 2201 Coulee Road. Cost for the pancake breakfast is $5. Proceeds go to Toys for Tots. Those attending may also bring a toy to donate.
Gifts for senior citizens
The Aging and Disability Resource Center of St. Croix County is collecting items for its annual Secret Santa for Seniors 60 and over. Donated items are sorted, wrapped and distributed to isolated older adults who live in the county. Items can be dropped off through Dec. 12 at the ADRC office in the Government Center or the Hudson Senior Center, located on the Christian Community Home campus. Toiletries are needed along with non-perishable snacks, puzzle books, greeting cards, postage stamps, large-print books, coffee, tea and cocoa, and fragrance-free items. WESTconsin Credit Union, 1601 Maxwell Drive, Hudson, is a collection site for Operation HELP’s toy and coat drive. New, unwrapped items for children of all ages, birth-18, may be dropped off through Dec. 13, Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-noon.
Cookbooks for charity
WESTconsin Credit Union has compiled a cookbook of 1,000 recipes from its members and staff and is selling copies for $14 each at any WESTconsin office. Proceeds support Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul, western Wisconsin’s local Children’s Miracle Network hospital.

Operation HELP
Annual Christmas campaign helps children and families in the Hudson School District. Families with children in the school district who wish to be sponsored, and anyone wishing to sponsor a family, should contact Jennifer Lukas at (715) 377-9990 after 6 p.m. on weeknights or between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekends. To volunteer on the campaign Dec. 15-18, call (715) 386-0881 and leave a message with a phone number.
Edina Realty, 400 S. Second St., is a drop-off site for items that will be donated to Operation HELP.
Salvation Army bell ringers
The Salvation Army needs bell ringers to staff the red kettles around Hudson immediately. Locations include County Market, Family Fresh Foods, Wal-Mart, Fleet Farm and Papa Murphy’s Pizza. To volunteer for a shift, contact Amy at (715) 554-7127. This year’s goal is $100,000 to help those less fortunate in our community.
