The Raider boys hockey team lost 3-2 in overtime to rival Eau Claire Memorial, then four days later beat Menomonie by the same score.
Hudson scored first against Memorial, but got down fairly early against Menomonie.
“We have had some very close games this year and that is good for our team,” said Coach Mike Stoskopf. “The Memorial game was very even and a tough one to swallow.”
Scoring were Ryan Dau and Josh Perron, with Perron also picking up and assist, along with Taylar Zarfos.
“The Menomonie game was good for our team because we were getting a lot of shots and there goalie was excellent, but we kept at it and came back from a 2-0 deficit,” Stoskopf said.
Those goals came from Phil Drewiske and Cody Johnson, with Zarfos getting the game-winner three minutes later, well into the third period. It was unassisted on the power play. Assists on the earlier goals came from Andrew Rodewald and Perron.
Some thought Hudson caught a break when there was a battle for a high puck immediately in front of the net, with various players swatting with their sticks in the air, but the puck landed and was then poked in by a Raider.
Hudson travels to River Falls on Thursday, Jan. 22, then plays host to Rice Lake next Tuesday, Jan. 27. Both are 7 p.m. games.
