Raider hockey team tops RF, Menomonie

The Hudson Raider boys hockey team traveled to River Falls Thursday, Jan. 22, and came away with a 4-2 win. The Raiders also topped Menomonie at home 3-2 on Jan. 17.

The Hudson Raider boys hockey team traveled to River Falls Thursday, Jan. 22, and came away with a 4-2 win. The Raiders also topped Menomonie at home 3-2 on Jan. 17.

Against River Falls, the two teams played to a 2-2 tie after two periods, but Hudson scored two goals in the third period to get the win.

Hudson’s first-period goal was an unassisted score from Mitch Patrick. In the second period, Ryan Dau scored with an assist from Taylar Zarfos. Patrick also scored the go-ahead goal in the third period with an assist from Phil Drewiske. The insurance empty net goal came from Cody Johnson (unassisted).

River Falls’ goals came from Ross Anderson and Quin Everson.

Raider goalie Garrett Patrick stopped 25 of 27 shots. Hudson had 22 shots at the RF net.

Top Menomonie

Menomonie took an early 2-0 lead in the contest, but Hudson scored a single goal in the second period and two in the third to get a 3-2 victory.

Phil Drewiske scored in the second period to cut the lead to 2-1. He was assisted by Andrew Rodewald. In the third period, Cody Johnson tied the game with an assist to Josh Perron. The winning goal came from Taylar Zarfos (unassisted).

Garrett Patrick stopped 18 of 20 shots, while the Raiders had 32 shots at the Menomonie net.

Hudson hosted Rice Lake Tuesday (Post-press time note: result of that game was another win for the Raiders by a score of 9-4) and travels to Somerset Thursday night Jan. 29, for a 7 p.m. game. Saturday Hudson hosts Henry Sibley (Minn.) in a 3 p.m. contest. Tuesday, Feb. 3, the Raiders travel to Eau Claire North. That game starts at 7 p.m.
