Dear Editor,
Did you catch the sobering news last week about climate change?
A new report authored by Susan Solomon, a senior scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, indicates that the effects of current global carbon dioxide emissions will have a lasting impact, adversely affecting climate for 1,000 years.
Probable effects include increased Dust Bowl-like droughts around the world.
Tragically, our lack of early response to signs of global warming has caused long-term damage to our exquisite earth. To prevent this from becoming even worse, change is necessary.
Reducing CO2 emissions requires action on many levels, from changes in our personal habits and actions to changes in government policy and regulation.
Let’s all contribute to this necessary venture. Earth’s prosperity and hope for our children’s children’s children lie in the balance.
