Gymnasts hop to it, start season strong
The defending level 4 Wisconsin champion, the Hudson boys gymnastics team, has started another season strong. Their first competition at level 5 was at the Minneapolis Convention Center for the Peppermint Twist Gymnastics Meet, sponsored by the Twin City Twisters.

The boys took second in the team competition, consisting of 10 teams from Minnesota and Wisconsin. In the 12-plus age group, Yuri Bronson took first with wins in the pommel horse, rings and high bar. In the 10-11 year age group, Wally Magnuson was victorious in the all-around with firsts in the floor, pommel and high bar. Ethan Ransom finished in third place, taking seconds in the floor, pommel and high bar. Ryan McDevitt rounded out the top 10 in that age group with a ninth-place finish overall and fifth in the floor exercise. Among 9-year-olds, Michael Rebozo was in 11th place.
The team then traveled to the Hastings Men’s Invitational, placing third in the team rankings, with 85 boys competing overall. Bronson was first with four No. 1 rankings. Magnuson was first in the 10-11 year age group with three wins. Ransom was fifth among 10-11-year-olds, bolstered by a victory in the parallel bars.
The third time was the charm as in the most recent meet, the team captured the Wisconsin Dells Vacation Classic at Chula Vista Resort. Ransom took first place all-around with victories in the floor, rings, vault and parallel bars.
Magnuson was first all-around with wins in three events. Bronson held the runner-up spot with a first place on the high bar.
The boys team trains out of the Hudson School of Gymnastics.
