Kindergarten registration replaces round-up

The Hudson School District will hold a districtwide kindergarten registration from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Hudson Prairie Elementary School, 1400 Carmichael Road.

The Hudson School District will hold a districtwide kindergarten registration from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Hudson Prairie Elementary School, 1400 Carmichael Road.

According to the district administration, the change from the traditional kindergarten round-up at each individual elementary school is part of an effort to get a more accurate count of incoming students.

To register, a child must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2009, to be eligible for kindergarten. The registration is only for the purpose of reserving a spot for a kindergarten-age child; parents do not need to bring their child with them.

Parents should bring the following information with them to the registration:

  • Registration form;

  • Home language survey;

  • Copy of the child’s birth certificate; and

  • Proof of residency, such as a rental agreement, utility bill or valid driver’s license.

    The registration process should take between 10-15 minutes. More information and the necessary forms are available at the elementary schools, on the district Web site, www.hudson.k12.wi.us, or at the Administrative Service Center, 644 Brakke Drive; (715) 377-3700.

    Parents will be notified at a later date of kindergarten orientation at district elementary schools, to be held sometime during the week of April 20.
