At the Feb. 18 City Council meeting, Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen presented lifesaving awards to two patrol officers who revived a 78-year-old man after his car crashed into a tow truck at Mike's Standard Service.

Officers James Van Dusen and James Wildman accepted awards. Glen L. Stockman of White Bear Lake, Minn., is believed to have passed out while driving on Coulee Road the night of Feb. 8. His car crossed an oncoming traffic lane and went through a snow bank before hitting the tow truck.

Van Dusen was the first emergency responder on the scene. He opened a jammed door and removed Stockman from the car. Van Dusen and Wildman together were able to revive Stockman by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him.

Van Dusen did the breathing while Wildman performed chest compressions. Wildman also had attached a defibrillator to Stockman, but it wasn't needed.
