The Hudson City Council on Feb. 18 gave a small engine repair shop permission to move into the building at 310 Second St. formerly occupied by the Seasons on St. Croix art gallery.

Bill Prudhomme of Bayport, Minn., will operate his Rivertown Motorsports & Marine business in the building owned by car dealer Dave Holt.

Prudhomme needed a certificate of compliance from the city saying that his business was appropriate for a central business district (B-3) zone.

The Plan Commission and Community Development Director Dennis Darnold recommended giving Prudhomme the certificate.

Prudhomme told the Plan Commission that his work would be restricted to the interior of the building, and that he wouldn’t store equipment or vehicles outside of it.

In a written statement to city officials, Prudhomme said his main business is the repair of motorcycles, personal watercraft, snowmobiles, ATVs, lawn mowers, chainsaws, outboard motors and small engines.

He said retail sales are a smaller portion of the business.
