Dear Editor,

Please note a correction to my letter last week called “Candidate calls for change.” In my comments I noted that the assistant to the animal control officer for the town of Hudson makes over $41 an hour when needed. Actually the assistant is paid $41.20 plus mileage at the federal mileage rate per dog being picked up, according to the town contract. He also is paid a base salary of $206 per month and an additional $265 per week when substituting for the animal control officer when he is gone during his eight-plus weeks of vacation. The assistant animal control officer also receives 30 days vacation, according to the town contract. The pay rate is per pickup vs. hourly. I apologize for the misinterpretation of the contract. How long it takes to pick up a dog I am sure varies for each animal.
