Garden U is Saturday

The St. Croix Valley Master Gardeners are hosting Garden U on Saturday, March 21, at the Valley House, north of Hudson on Hwy. 35.

The St. Croix Valley Master Gardeners are hosting Garden U on Saturday, March 21, at the Valley House, north of Hudson on Hwy. 35.

Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. The annual daylong seminar features three speakers, lunch, door prizes, vendors and an opportunity to meet area gardeners.

Speakers

  • The morning kicks off with Vincent Fritz’s presentation “Take Two Brussels Sprouts and Call me in the Morning: A Production Prescription for Enhanced Health Benefits in Vegetable Crops.”

    Fritz is based out of the University of Minnesota Southern Research Center at Waseca.

  • The second speaker is Lynn Steiner of the Stillwater area, who will present “Landscaping with Native Plants.”

  • After lunch, Jeff Gillman will present “The Truth About Organic Gardening.” Gillman is an associate professor of horticultural at the U of M and a local author.
