For Bill Prudhomme, a mechanic since the age of 8, opening his own shop was a personal goal and a testament to his father, who repaired engines all his life but never managed to open his own shop. Prudhomme recently relocated his business from Bayport to Hudson, opening March 9 at 310 Second St.

“I have been looking at this location for a long time and was thrilled when it became available,” said Prudhomme, who will be offering a wide assortment of parts and repair services along with a retail line of new JetMoto Scooters and ATVs. The scooters get between 94 and 102 miles per gallon depending on their size.

Rivertown Motor Sports offers parts and repair for motorcycles, personal water craft, ATVs, lawn mowers, weed whips, small engines and boat service. Prudhomme is also offering a consignment option for power sport items.

The North St. Paul native currently lives in New Richmond, and his daughter Heather Gunderson is helping him out in the store.

“We offer all of the after-market dealer items that would be available in a big bike shop,” said Prudhomme. In addition, he will bring in a line of new lawn mowers and weed whips.

On the marine side, he will offer cushions, life jackets and inflation toys, just to name a few.

Prudhomme also offers Answer Clothing Program for dirt bike enthusiasts and racers.

“My dad was proud. He saw our original location in Bayport before he died,” said Prudhomme, who holds his dad responsible for his interest in motors and small engines.

Rivertown Motor Sports is currently open Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Summer hours will be Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call (715) 381-0088.
