Former Hudson High School track and cross country standout Ryan Meissen finished second at the Chicago Bank of America “Shamrock Shuffle” 8K on Sunday.

Meissen fished the race in 24 minutes, 23 seconds, second only to winner Emmanual Korir of Lansing, Mich., with a time of 24:18.

In the team events, the Wisconsin Runners Racing Team finished second with members Meissen, now of Mukwonago, Tyler Sigl of Seymour, Aaron Nodolf of Menomonee Falls and Henry Dennis of Fond du Lac.

When Meissen’s parents, Len and Jan Meissen, spoke with him they asked how the race had been and Ryan’s answer was, “The race was OK, the snow was wet and slushy and at times we were running in five inches of water.”

When they asked what place he finished in, his answer was, “Pretty well, I finished second.”

There were 32,500 entries in the combined events of the 5K and 8K.
