Phipps offers painting classes

Six-week acrylic and four-week watercolor classes start this month at The Phipps Center for the Arts.

Acrylics

A six-week acrylic painting class for teens ages 14 and older, and adults, is offered from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, April 13-May 18, for new and returning students.

During the first three weeks, students will do instructor-led painting exercises focusing on color theory, mixing paint, tinting and shading, brush techniques, and understanding composition. The final three weeks will consist of guided studio time. The class fee is $176

Watercolors

Carolyn Streed is offering Quick Start to Success with Watercolor, a four-week class for beginning students, from 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday, April 21-May 12, at The Phipps Center for the Arts.

Participants will learn how watercolors behave by practicing a variety of special techniques. Participants should request a suggested materials list when registering. The class fee is $135.
