The Hudson Police Department wants to remind people that the city of Hudson has an 11 p.m. curfew for young people under the age of 17.

The city ordinance states that anyone under that age cannot be unaccompanied by an adult or guardian anywhere in the city after 11 p.m. The only exceptions are made for students returning home from a job or social engagement like a movie or school function. The curfew is in effect every day of the year. The fine for violating curfew is $83.80.

Police also remind skateboarders that they cannot skateboard on city streets but can use sidewalks unless otherwise posted. For example, skateboarding is not allowed on the Seventh Street hill or on the Coulee Road hill.

Skateboarding in the downtown area bordered by First and Third streets and Vine and Buckeye streets is also prohibited.

Chief Marty Jensen said skateboarders are not allowed to use the Lakefront Park band shell or to skateboard on private property without the owner’s consent. The fine for violating the skateboarding restrictions is $58.60.
