Private voice lessons
Elizabeth Hawksford Schaefer offers private voice lessons for ages 12-adult. Adults and homeschooled teenagers are especially welcome to call for available daytime openings. For more information, call The Phipps center at (715) 386-2305, ext. 101.
Ballroom dance parties
Tom Larson will offer ballroom dance parties Saturday, May 16 and June 20, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. in the dance studio. Larson will offer a ballroom dance lesson from 7:30 to 8:30. Dancers of all experience levels are welcome. Refreshments are provided. Admission is $10 per person.
Yoga classes
Vinyasa Flow yoga classes continue Thursdays, 6:30–8 p.m. Beginning yoga is offered Tuesdays and Fridays, 9-10:30 a.m. Classes are ongoing and may be taken at any time. Punch-cards may be purchased for $120 per 10 classes. Punch-cards are good for any of the three classes offered each week. Students only pay for the classes they attend. Students should wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat.
Summer theater camps
Summer Art Camp
Enrollment is now open for Summer Art Camp classes in pottery, drawing, painting, sculpture, mosaic, puppetry and more for ages 4 through 18, weekly June 22-Aug. 14. Class fees range from $25 (for a one-day, two-hour class) to $239 (for a five-day, seven-hour class).
Digital photography workshops
Two digital photography classes are offered by Curtis Dale. In Digital Photography, Saturday, May 9, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., participants will learn the basics of digital photography. In Photoshop Elements, Saturday, May 16, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., participants will learn how to use Adobe Photoshop Elements to edit and improve digital pictures. The fee for each workshop is $90.
Photography club
The Western Wisconsin Photographic Club meets regularly at The Phipps. Photographers of all levels of ability and experience are invited to these meetings. For more information, contact Margaret Strehlo, (715) 386-5048.
Healing Arts at Hudson Hospital
Currently on display are the works of Alisha Duckett, Judy Fawcett, John Finkler, Christina Hankins, Mary Pat Opatz Herges, Jay Jensen, Andrea Larson, Tom McGregor, Mary Kay Newman, Dean Rehpohl, Gregg Rochester, David Sebberson, Michael Sweere and Ellen Wold.
Gallery exhibit
A new series of exhibitions featuring work by area artists Fred Annes, Bradley Royce and Jeanne McGee, all of Minneapolis, Chuck Avery of Plymouth, Minn., and Peggy Lauritsen, Stillwater, Minn., will be on view May 1-June 7 in The Galleries. The reception is Friday, May 1, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Also on view in the Atrium Gallery is a display featuring the Somerset Bench Project, a community art project involving 38 special education elementary and high school students from the Somerset School District as well as dozens of community volunteers and local businesses.
Galleries hours are Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Sunday, noon-4:30 p.m., as well as one hour before and through intermission of all performances in The Phipps theaters.
The Gift Gallery
The Gift Gallery offers unique fine art and traditional crafts by noted area artists. Gift certificates are also available.
On Friday-Sunday, May 1-3, members will receive 20 percent off all purchases in the Gift Gallery. All new work will be for sale that weekend from over 30 artists from throughout western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota. Artwork includes pottery, turned wood, jewelry, photography, painting, books, purses, scarves, sculpture, and more. Gift Gallery hours are Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Sunday, noon-4:30 p.m.; as well as one hour before and through intermission of all performances in The Phipps theaters.
