We greatly grieve the passing of Audrey Ward, 83, of Hudson, who died on Friday, April 24, at The Pillars Hospice Home in Oakdale Minn. She was born in Hudson the daughter of Nels and Cora (Morstad) Otterson on Aug. 14, 1925.
We greatly grieve the passing of Audrey Ward, 83, of Hudson, who died on Friday, April 24, at The Pillars Hospice Home in Oakdale Minn.
She was born in Hudson the daughter of Nels and Cora (Morstad) Otterson on Aug. 14, 1925. She attended both grade school and high school in Hudson.
Audrey then worked as a clerk at the First National Bank in Hudson. At age 24, she enrolled in St. Olaf College, where she would study for two years.
On June 13, 1953, Audrey would be united in marriage to Donald G. Ward at Bethel Lutheran Church in Hudson. They lived in many cities as Don was transferred for work, and she worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for several years.
Primarily, Audrey was highly devoted to her family and spent her time as a homemaker and volunteer. She volunteered for many things as a lifetime member of Bethel Lutheran Church, as a member of PEO, and at Hudson Hospital.
Audrey and Don traveled the world together, and after Don’s passing she also enjoyed playing bridge with friends.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and her parents.
Audrey is survived by her sons, Dr. Donald (Dr. Hallie) Ward of Evergreen Colo., and Michael Ward of Oakdale, Minn.; grandson, Dr. Kelly Starrett (Juliet Starrett); great-granddaughters, Georgia and Callie of San Francisco, Calif.; and her brother, Dr. Warren (Jan) Otterson of San Antonio, Texas.
Funeral Services for Audrey Ward will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 920 Third St., Hudson.
Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery, St. Paul.
Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Friday evening at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, and also one hour prior to services at church on Saturday.
Memorials are preferred to the church, The Phipps Center or the Hudson Hospital Foundation.
