Hudson’s girls’ soccer team solidified its hold on first place in the Big Rivers Conference by shutting out defending champion Eau Claire Memorial, 2-0, Tuesday night at Hudson’s Middle School field.
Midfielder Katy Schulte assisted on both Raider goals and keeper Tessa Bakken stopped all seven shots she faced as Hudson improved to 5-1 in the BRC (7-1 overall).
Schulte sent a cross in front to Allie Beaver four minutes into the second half and Beaver one-timed the ball into the net to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead. The score remained that way until the 75th minute when Paige Ommen beat Old Abe keeper Kelsey Franko with another assist from Schulte.
River Falls and Chippewa Falls both won Tuesday to stay one game back of the first place Raiders at 4-2. River Falls defeated Eau Claire North 3-2 while Chippewa Falls beat Menomonie 8-1.
Eau Claire North and Eau Claire Memorial are both 3-2-1 in conference play.
The Raiders will host Menomonie Thursday at 7 p.m. at the middle school. The Indians fell to 0-6 with their loss to Chippewa Falls Tuesday.
