County roads claim fourth victim
Sheriff Dennis Hillstead said Nicholas Elwood, 23, of Clear Lake died in a single-car crash at about 5:43 a.m. Friday.
A Clear Lake man is the latest fatality on St. Croix County roads this year.
Sheriff Dennis Hillstead said Nicholas Elwood, 23, died in a single-car crash at about 5:43 a.m. Friday.
Elwood was driving a 2001 BMW north on 270th Street near 210th Avenue in the town of Forest when he left the road, drove into a ditch, struck a tree stump and rolled several times, the sheriff said.
Elwood, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and died at the scene, officials said.
The crash marks the fourth traffic fatality in the county this year, compared with 11 in all of 2008.
