Rickie Weeks hit a three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning, to give the Milwaukee Brewers a 7-4 victory at Pittsburgh last night.

The Pirates had a 3-1 lead going into the eighth when Milwaukee tied it with a pinch-hit, two-run double by Ryan Braun.

The Pirates then went back in front on an RBI double by Racine native Jason Jaramillo.

But the Brewers exploded for four in the ninth, to give them their 16th straight win over the Pirates, the most by one club over another since 1990.

Braun had stayed behind in Milwaukee for an MRI Monday on his stiff back. It turned up negative, so he hopped a flight to Pittsburgh, got to the ballpark in the second inning, and offered to play if needed.

After he pinch-hit, he stayed in the game to play in left field.

Prince Fielder and Jason Kendall had two hits apiece for the Brewers, who’ve won six of their last- eight.

Nate McLouth went 3-5 for the Pirates, who’ve now lost six of their last seven. Mark DeFelice got the win in relief. He’s 3-0.

Trevor Hoffman earned his fourth save. Matt Capps blew a save opportunity and took the loss. He’s 0-2, and the Pirates have still not beaten the Brewers since May 22 of 2008.

They’ll close out their short two-game series tonight at PNC Park. Right-hander Jeff Suppan faces Pirates’ right-hander Ian Snell.
