Dear Editor,

A golden opportunity to be an advocate for elders in a nursing home may be awaiting you. The Volunteer Ombudsman Program of both the St. Croix and the Chippewa Valleys is recruiting volunteers in your area.

Qualified volunteers will:

• Attend a seven-hour training;

• Learn about making brief, unannounced weekly visits;

• Give at least a six-month time commitment;

• Undergo a criminal background check; and

• Forge a new volunteer role for yourself.

A Volunteer Ombudsman Program coordinator will train and guide you throughout the entire volunteer experience.
