A committee interviewed 11 candidates for the position of St. Croix County treasurer last week.
At total of 53 people applied for the position, which will be left vacant when Cheryl Slind leaves the post May 29.
Slind, who has been treasurer for six years, began a new term Jan. 1. The person appointed to replace her will hold the job until Dec. 31, 2012, but would have to be elected by citizens to serve longer than that.
The interview committee is expected to recommend an applicant to the County Board at its June meeting.
These are the 11 who were interviewed: Michelle Forsberg, Baldwin; Gordon Knudson, Hudson; Connie Pittman, Hudson; Kelly Zenkowich, New Richmond; Chad Wolske, Hammond; Elizabeth Jones, Woodville; Timothy Delaney, Hudson; June Sather, River Falls; Kim Ard, New Richmond; Denise Shirley Carter, Hudson; and Laurie Noble, Hudson.
Current pay for the treasurer’s job is $61,000. The treasurer also receives the same retirement contributions and health, disability and life insurance coverage provided to other county employees.
