Kell honored as top teacher
For the 13th year, the Anoka-Hennepin School District recognized excellent teachers through its Teacher Outstanding Performance Award program. A 1999 Hudson High School graduate, Jonathan Kell, was among the winners. He is a Blaine High School mathematics teacher.
For the 13th year, the Anoka-Hennepin School District recognized excellent teachers through its Teacher Outstanding Performance Award program. A 1999 Hudson High School graduate, Jonathan Kell, was among the winners. He is a Blaine High School mathematics teacher.
More than 40 teachers were nominated for the TOP award and seven winners were selected for recognition. Each TOP winner received a $200 check from the Anoka-Hennepin Educational Foundation.
The award is designed to involve parents, students and community members in recognizing exemplary teachers.
Kell received his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from UW- Madison and his master’s degree in teaching and learning from St. Mary’s University.
He is a member of the professional learning community committee and a cooperative learning coach at Blaine High School. He also coaches freshman soccer and is an assistant coach for the varsity hockey team. He is also an elementary age volunteer and small group leader for third-graders at Eagle Brook Church.
“As a teacher, I want to make a difference in the lives of my students,” Kell said. “I feel I can do this through building a rapport with them and genuinely caring about each student and their learning. In my classroom, I strive to create a positive learning environment built around respect that encourages social interaction and active participation.”
