Eddie Doucette who created the term “sky hook,” says he doesn’t mind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar trade-marking it.
Former Milwaukee Bucks’ broadcaster Eddie Doucette made the term “sky hook” famous, when he described Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s towering hook shots when he played for the Bucks in the 1970s.
Now, we’re learning that Abdul-Jabbar has trademarked the term and he plans to sell Sky Hook apparel to raise money for charity.
His manager, Deborah Morales, said Abdul-Jabbar trademarked the phrase 10 years ago and he had used it himself in his high school years in New York City.
But Doucette said this week he won’t quibble. And he won’t object to Abdul-Jabbar trade-marking “sky hook,” because he’s using it for a good cause.
