Special Olympics: police make a run for it

The two-day run across Wisconsin ended June 4 at opening ceremonies in Stevens Point with the lighting of the caldron for the start of the Summer State Special Olympics Games.
The run was organized by Chief Lisa Walter of the UW-Stout Police Department. In 2008, the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics raised more than $1.5 million with nearly 1,000 registered participants representing 170 law enforcement agencies.
