Skate park opens for summer
The Royalty Wheel Park at the St. Croix Valley YMCA will open for the season June 12. Hours are noon-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, noon-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Participants may buy daily, monthly and season passes. An earlier skate time is from 9 a.m.-noon Mondays for riders ages 12 and under. Girl Scouts hold day camp
A day camp for Girl Scouts is scheduled Aug. 10-14 at Rolling Ridges camp in Hudson. Participants will do traditional camp activities, work on Try-Its and Badges and learn about Girl Scouting around the world. Girl Scout Juniors may also canoe and try archery. Shooting class set for women
The Hudson Rod, Gun and Archery Club will sponsor a National Rifle Association’s Women On Target trap-shooting clinic June 25 and 27. The classroom session June 25 begins at 7 p.m. and the range-day-session June 27 begins at 9:30 a.m. Class will be limited to 20 women. The clinic features training in the safe handling of shotguns to help participants learn the fundamentals of shooting clay pigeons in a relaxing environment. The town of St. Joseph is conducting a survey of residents’ interest in obtaining Internet service. Most of the town does not have any option for service. Volunteer event kicks off
Community Thread is starting what it hopes is an annual service event Saturday, June 20, engaging volunteers in service projects at 10 non-profit organizations in the St. Croix Valley on both sides of the river. The event begins at 8 a.m. at Lucy Winton Athletic Fields in Lakeland, Minn., with volunteers departing to one of 10 service sites for a day of volunteer work, ending at 3 p.m. with ice cream and visiting.
