Beth Pabst attends seminar

St. Croix County Register of Deeds Beth Pabst was among registrars and treasurers statewide who attended the WACO Summer Conference in La Crosse June 10-12. Participants took classes on public management, heard speakers from the state Departments of Revenue and Vital Statistics, viewed vendor software and attended association meetings.

A presentation on the 2008 floods in the Cedar Rapids area and the damage to real estate and vital records “was eye-opening and encouraged me to take action toward digitizing and protecting our oldest records in St. Croix County,” Pabst said. “We have the old real estate books filmed as a back-up but need to be aggressive in getting these records in the most up-to-date format to ensure that if a natural disaster occurred in our area that our records would be safe.”
