Dear Editor,

Elections have consequences. Today our Democrat-controlled state Legislature voted for the biggest tax increase in Wisconsin history: $2.1 billion in new taxes and fees, a deficit of almost $2.3 billion, while borrowing another $2.9 billion. I applaud Sen. Harsdorf and Rep. Rhoades for voting against adding more financial hardship to our pocketbooks.

Government must learn to live within its means. Government at every level should establish priorities and only offer services we can afford. The Democrat’s poor judgment is incredible. Instead of investing limited tax dollars wisely, Democrats voted to crush our school budgets while increasing our property and capital gains taxes. Not to mention buying votes with over 100 pork projects, earmarks costing you and me an added $50 million.

Is this change we can believe in? Wisconsin is becoming so “Progressive” that working-class people soon will not be able to afford to live here, much less bring new businesses to our state. The 2010 elections will be here before you know it, and it is time for change. Vote out the insanity and careless spending. It is time for fiscal responsibility, time for the Democrats to go.
