Former Green Bay Packers’ tight end Bubba Franks has been released by the New York Jets.

He did not take part in the off-season practices and a recent mini-camp because of a knee injury.

Franks has played nine years in the NFL, all but last season with the Packers.

He caught six passes for 47 yards in eight games with the Jets a year ago and he started four games alongside quarterback Brett Favre.

Franks had signed a new contract after his one-year deal with the Jets expired after 2008.

For his career, Franks has caught 262 passes for 2,347 yards and 22 touchdowns.
