Kale Pierce Donovan, infant son of Ryan and Rachel (Kunz) Donovan of Fort Collins, Colo., went to be with his Savior early on the morning of Tuesday, July 14, 2009.
Kale was born on June 18 with Zellweger Syndrome, an extremely rare genetic condition. He became a child of God through Holy Baptism on June 23. Kale’s time on this earth was brief, yet he managed to touch the lives and hearts of an extraordinary number of people especially through the Caring Bridge website.
Along with his parents, Kale is also survived by his paternal grandparents, Nancy Donovan of Hudson, Wis., and Terry Donovan of La Crosse, Wis.; his maternal grandparents, Dan and Vicky Kunz of La Crosse; his three aunts, Jessie Kunz of New Haven, Conn., Emily Rick (husband, Carl) of New Ulm, Minn., and Hannah Kunz of La Crosse; one cousin, Calvin Rick; and many other relatives and friends.
In celebration of Kale’s life, a memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4610 Hogan Drive, Fort Collins.
A visitation was held one hour before the service.
Throughout his brief life, Kale’s doctors, nurses and hospital staff were remarkable in every way, and our family would like to thank them all from the bottom of our heart.
