Tyler Obermueller of River Falls won the State Amateur golf tournament yesterday in Waukesha.

The former Wisconsin Badger was tied with his ex-teammate Jordan Elsen for the third-round lead.

But both went five over par on the front-nine Thursday.

Obermueller recovered with an even-par 36 on the back nine and he finished at four-over-par 288.

Andy DeKeuster of Franksville and Miles McConnell of Fitchburg tied for second place at 289.

Elsen finished fourth, at three strokes back. Six-time champion Mark Bemowski was fifth, after being one stroke off the lead the past two days.

Obermueller, 22, won the tournament on his final day as an amateur. Today, he plans to turn pro at the Minnesota State Open.
