The Hudson Public Utility Commission has rejected all contractor bids to construct a water treatment facility at city Well No. 10.
The project had an estimated $5 million price tag. Slowed development reduces need for the plant
The commission followed a recommendation of Water Utility Director Tim Caruso in rejecting the contractors’ bids at its July 14 meeting, according to the minutes of the meeting.
Caruso said in a call to the Star-Observer on Monday that the slowdown in residential and commercial development has reduced the amount of impact fee money coming to the utility.
He said the utility might have had to issue bonds to pay for both an 11th Street water main improvement project and the water treatment plant, if it went ahead with both projects.
