Thirty Wisconsin school districts will get federal funds to help homeless students and their families.

Only about 12 school systems normally get the money. But thanks to the stimulus package, Wisconsin is getting an extra $900,000 on top of the $688,000 from the homeless aid program.

Beloit, Stevens Point, Waukesha and Hudson are among the schools getting the aid for the first time.

It provides things like transportation, meals, counseling, and tutoring to homeless youngsters.

Wisconsin had an estimated 9,300 homeless students in the last school year.
