The Hudson Area Swim Association (HASA) competed at the Long Course State Meet July 31-Aug.2 at the University of Minnesota natatorium.
Some of the highlights from the meet included Sydney Glampe finishing 20th in the 50 meter freestyle (8 and under), and the 200 meter freestyle relay of Mikaila Thompson, Rachel Baker, Katelyn Lamb, and Sydney Glampe placing 34th overall.
In the 9-10 age group Zack Aherns finished eighth in the 100 meter breaststroke, and seventh in both the 50 meter and 100 meter butterfly events.
Kayla Parker, Emmie Reynolds, Marissa Smith, and Erika Guenther finished 27th in the 200 meter freestyle, (11-12 age group), while Guenther went on to place 28th in the 50 meter butterfly.
In the 13 and over age group, Jay Skinner placed 40th in the 50 meter freestyle. The 400 meter medley relay team of Charlie Skinner, Zach Dahl, Robbie Lorenz, and Jordan Mielke finished 23rd overall in the 17 and over age group.
“At ABC Finals in Winona July 24-25, there were many great races,” coach Ryan Hawke said. “Zack Aherns dropped times to qualify for the state meet in several events and was one of the top finishers for his age group. Another impressive outcome was 14 year-old Kayla Lorenz, who dropped over two minutes in the 800 meter freestyle event finishing second overall in that event.”
The HASA fall season will start in early September with practices at the Hudson Middle School pool. For more information about HASA, contact Hawke at hawke@hudsonswimteam.org or go to www.hudsonswimteam.org.
