Legion does fall ball

Registration is still open for Legion fall baseball, open to area boys and girls ages 6 to 10. The program will run for six Saturdays after Labor Day at the Grandview softball complex. For more information, go to www.hudsonlegionbaseball.org.

Youth flag football starts

Registration is open for youth flag football at the St. Croix Valley YMCA for kids ages 3 to grade 4. Leagues begin the week of Sept. 14. Grades 1 and 2 play Mondays from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., grades 3 and 4 play Tuesdays from 5:15 to 6:15, and ages 3-5 play Wednesdays from 5:15 to 6. For more information, call the Y at (715) 386-1616.

HASA registers swimmers Sept. 2

Registration for the Hudson Area Swim Association’s fall/winter sessions is from 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the Hudson Middle School. New and returning swimmers should plan to attend. New swimmers will be evaluated by coaching staff to determine practice groups (bring a suit and towel). Swimmers need to have completed Red Cross Level 4 or YMCA Minnow Level instruction. Perch Lake swim set

The St. Croix Valley YMCA is sponsoring the fifth Perch Lake swim Saturday, Aug. 22, beginning at 9 a.m.; registration is 7:30-8:30. The lake, located at 550 Perch Lake Road, is a spring-fed lake with depths of up to 60+ feet and a temperature of approximately 70 degrees. The races will start in the water and follow a triangular loop for the one- mile race and a repeated loop for the two-mile race. The course will be marked with orange buoys and patrolled with safety boats. Cost is $35 the day of the race. Brown gets hole in one

Tommy Brown of Mendota Heights, Minn., got a hole in one at White Eagle Golf Club on Friday, Aug. 14. Brown recorded the ace on the third hole, shooting with a pitching wedge from the 130-yard white tees.

Hunter safety in Somerset

A certified Wisconsin hunter education course is scheduled from 6:38-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 1-Oct. 8, at the Somerset Middle School, for youth ages 12 and up. Parents are also welcome. Registration is Sept. 1; cost is $10. A field day is scheduled all day Sept. 26. All students are required to obtain a DNR customer ID number ahead of time (call 888-936-7464 or visit the service center in Baldwin).
