Dave Holt sells Ford dealership in Hudson

Longtime Hudson business owner Dave Holt sold his Dave Holt Ford dealership to two men who own car dealerships in New Prague, Minn. The sale was effective Sept. 1.

The new dealer is Mark Swelland and his accountant partner Gary Embretson. They will eventually change the name of the business to St. Croix Valley Ford/Mercury.

Holt, who has been active in the community for the past 35 years, plans to remain in Hudson and will do some consulting work for the new owners.

"People should know that I am doing this by choice," Holt said. "The dealership is not under any duress. We have always been highly successful."

Holt said he has been approached many times in recent years by people interested in buying the dealership.
