Youth football clinic open
The Hudson Boosters and the St. Croix Valley YMCA are hosting a free youth football clinic for children in grades 1-4 from 11:15 a.m.-noon. The clinic runs two Saturdays only, Sept. 19 and Oct. 3, at the Hudson Middle School football fields. An incorrect date was published in last week’s newspaper. Hudson High School football head coach Adam Kowles, his staff and players will run the clinics.
Participants will do skills and drills to learn the proper techniques of blocking and tackling, the proper way to carry and receive a football, and play some games. No equipment is needed. Homecoming is Sept. 18
Hudson High School Homecoming is Friday, Sept. 18. The parade is at 3:30 p.m., the queen coronation at 6:15 and the football game at 7 p.m.
Golf for St. Pat’s School
The 18th annual St. Patrick Golf Benefit is scheduled Friday, Sept. 18, with a noon shogun start at Hudson Golf Club. The four-person scramble includes range balls, cart, 18 holes of golf, dinner by RJ’s Meats and a small auction for $85. All proceeds go directly to St. Patrick School’s athletic department and computer lab. Other prizes will be given for the longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin, for both men and women. Golf for Hudson baseball
Another four-person scramble, this one to benefit Hudson Baseball, is scheduled Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Hudson Golf Club with registration at noon and tee-off at 1 p.m. All proceeds will go toward field improvements at Grandview Park. The 18-hole event includes cart, range balls, dinner, door prizes and an awards banquet with longest putt and drive contests, closest to the pin challenge and a raffle. Cost is $90 per player, $360 per team. The cost of sponsoring a hole is $50. The Hudson Hockey Association will be offering both online and walk-in registration sessions this season. Online registration is available at www.hudsonhockey.com. HBA registers players
The Hudson Basketball Association is holding registration night for the girls and boys in-house programs as well as the boys traveling program from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Hudson Middle School, 1300 Carmichael Road. In-house program fees are $65 for both boys and girls. Traveling fees for boys are $225 for fourth grade and $250 for all others. The girls in-house program is for girls in grades K–6. The boys in-house program is for boys in grades preK–6. The boys traveling program is for boys in grades 4-8. Pre-tryout dates for the boys traveling are Sept. 21 and 24.
