Brewers fall at Colorado, lose chance for winning season

The Milwaukee Brewers lost their chance for a winning season when they fell at Colorado 10-6 Wednesday.

It was Milwaukee’s 81st defeat.

One more would give them a losing record for the first time since 2006, when they collapsed in the second half under Ned Yost and finished 75-87.

Last night, Rockies went in front for good in the third inning when they broke a 2-2 tie by scoring three runs.

Todd Helton, Troy Toluwitzki, and Carlos Gonzalez each hit two-run homers for Colorado.

Jeff Suppan got shelled for the second straight time. He gave up eight runs on 10 hits in six innings, and his record fell to 7-12.

Jason Hammel struck out eight in five innings for the win. He’s now 10-8.

Prince Fielder, Mike Cameron and Casey McGehee all homered for the Brewers. But they left 11 on base and went 2-12 with runners in scoring position, as they lost their third straight.

Right-fielder Corey Hart missed the game, after it was learned that he suffered possible compression fractures to two fingers on his right hand.

The Rockies can clinch a playoff spot with a win this afternoon, when they close out their three-game set with Milwaukee.
