Swimmers swamp Rice Lake, host Chippewa Falls

Hudson’s girls’ swimming and diving team mixed up its lineup Thursday night, and the result was a resounding 124-46 Big Rivers Conference victory over Rice Lake at the middle school pool.

“Although the girls swam various events they are not used to swimming, they did a fantastic job racing to finish with a win,” Raider coach Kelly Hackbarth said.

The Raiders swept the top three spots in three different events. In the 50 freestyle, Noey Anderson took first in 27.17 seconds, Megan Haney was second in 27.8 and Melly Meyer finished third in 28.62.

Kayla Lorenz took first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:03.71 while Erin Ploeger was second in 1:05.08 and Patsy Castro third in 1:09.63.

In the 100 backstroke, Catie Weese was first in 1:07.71, Ronni Schoenherr finished second in 1:08.88 and Hannah Van Valkenburg placed third in 1:16.20.

Haney also took first in the 100 butterfly in 1:21.21 while Anderson added a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.27.

The Raiders’ 200 yard freestyle relay team of Meyer, Lindsey Bedford, Haney and Ebonee Townsend combined for a first place time of 1:52.66, while the 400 freestyle relay team of Anderson, Townsend, Bedford and Weese took first in 4:01.53.

After visiting Eau Claire North Tuesday, the Raiders will host Chippewa Falls on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m.
