Dear Editor,
Ms. Sutton’s letter from last week is a prime example of the uneducated fear and paranoia from those on the left regarding anyone who dares to exercise their firearms rights, no matter how obscure those rights may be.
Calling pro-gun citizens the “slimy underbelly” of the Republican Party is particularly interesting when you consider many open-carry and pro-gun activists also lean Democrat. The Wisconsin attorney general has also issued a memorandum advising law enforcement that open carry is legal in this state. Maybe Ms. Sutton missed that.
Twice before, concealed carry legislation was introduced and has failed due to liberals who are terrified of citizens with guns. Since fear-mongering liberals have prevented licensing we’ll just exercise our right to carry openly. It’s always possible that Ms. Sutton may, one day, find herself threatened by a thug or criminal and some citizen with a firearm prevents her potentially imminent death. I wonder how much bile she’ll have to swallow in order to choke out a simple “thanks.”
Last, her statement about her disgust that “this event was snuck into town” is improper. The word I’m sure she meant to use was sneaked.
