Hudson’s boys soccer team wrapped up its regular season with a dominant 5-1 win over Chippewa Falls last Tuesday to finish with a record of 12-3-3 overall, 9-1-2 in the Big Rivers Conference, and secure the No. 2 seed in the 16-team WIAA sectional playoffs which began this week.
The Raiders hosted No. 15 Menomonie Tuesday. The Raiders defeated Menomonie in that contest by a score of 12-0. The win Tuesday will pit Hudson against No. 7 Wausau West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15 at home.
The sectional semifinals are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 22 at the home of the higher seed with the sectional finals to be played Saturday, Oct. 24 in Chippewa Falls.
Last Tuesday the Raiders got off to a strong start and secured the No. 2 seed with a 5-1 victory over the Cardinals.
“We really controlled play and created a number of dangerous chances,” head coach Chuck Bublitz said. “Kenzie Lund and David Nettleton were very active in the attack in the first half.”
Bublitz said Noah Harmon earned Man of the Match honors for his work in the midfield, constantly breaking up Cardinal attacks and winning balls, while Chris Berglund played significant time at outside midfield and was excellent, running tirelessly up and down the flank.
“It was a great end to our conference season,” Bublitz said.
