• Plaza 94 Pumpkin Party 2009

The Hudson Plaza 94 Pumpkin Party made a return this autumn and the public responded.

Hundreds of children, parents and grandparents attended Saturday’s party in the parking lot of the Plaza 94 Shopping Center, according to Mark Parupsky of Hudson Optical.

Parupsky is chair of the I-94 Business Alliance, the committee of the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce that organized and sponsored the party.

“With balmy weather and a large turnout, the event was another big success,” Parupsky reported.

The Chamber gave away close to 1,000 pumpkins for children to take home to turn into jack-o-lanterns.

The party also featured a Halloween costume contest, a petting zoo, games, pony rides, horse-drawn wagon rides, Stillwater Trolley rides, food vendors and performances by The Bassmeister, a Milwaukee-area entertainer who turns fishing instruction into comedy.

All of the Plaza 94 businesses and a number of others from the city’s I-94 commercial district participated in the event.

Other members of the I-94 Business Alliance committee are Pete Keskey, Jill McNamee, Mara Krinke, Kami Telschow, Bobbie Likes and Dawn Marquart.

Costume contest winners

The winners of costume contest were as follows:

Ages 4 and younger – 1. Aiden Peltier, River Falls; 2. Sadie Richter, Hudson, and Brooke Beck, Osceola; 3. Miles Neuman, Hudson.

Ages 5-8 - 1. Garrett (last names weren’t provided), Hudson; 2. Paige, Hudson; 3. Sarah, Hudson.

Ages 9 and older - 1. Taylor Casey, Hudson; 2. Isabella Newbauer, Hudson, 3. Alexis Beese, Amery.
