A Hammond youth hockey coach made an initial appearance in St. Croix County Circuit Court Nov. 9 on felony sex charges.
James Lawrence Armagost, 45, is accused of repeated sex assault of a child and using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.
A preliminary hearing was set for 8:30 a.m. Monday before Judge Edward F. Vlack. At a bail bond hearing Nov. 6, Armagost was ordered to post $15,000 cash.
The results of a Nov. 4 investigation by sheriff's deputies and River Falls police alleged between Feb. 1 and Aug. 31, Armagost exchanged e-mail messages with a 15-year-old girl that led to a romantic relationship.
The complaint accused Armagost of kissing and inappropriately touching the teenager a number of times at secluded locations including his car.
The teenager told investigators she knew Armagost because he was her hockey and softball coach.
Each of the felony charges carries a maximum sentenced of 40 years in prison and $100,000 fine.
