H1N1 vaccine clinics start Monday in St. Croix CountySt. Croix County Public Health Department has received a limited supply of both the nasal and injectable H1N1 vaccine. The vaccine will be distributed at five scheduled clinics beginning Monday, Nov. 16 while supplies last.
St. Croix County Public Health Department has received a limited supply of both the nasal and injectable H1N1 vaccine. The vaccine will be distributed at five scheduled clinics beginning Monday, Nov. 16 while supplies last. All clinics will be held from noon - 5 p.m. at the
St. Croix County Health and Human Services Building, Public Health Department, 1445 N. 4th Street in New Richmond.
There are different types of H1N1 vaccine which carry different approvals for ages and/or medical conditions.The vaccine will be given to the current target groups including:
--Persons who live with or provide care for children aged less than 6 months ( parents, siblings and daycare providers)
--Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel who have direct contact with patients or infectious material
--Children aged 6 months through 4 years
--Children and adolescents aged 5-18 years who have chronic medical conditions that place them at higher risk of influenza-related complications. These conditions include chronic pulmonary (including asthma), cardiovascular (except hypertension), renal, hepatic, cognitive, neurologic/neuromuscular, hematological or metabolic disorders (including diabetes mellitus), immunosuppression (including immunosuppression caused by medications or by human immunodeficiency virus); or receiving long-term aspirin therapy.
The schedule of H1N1 vaccine clinics is as follows:
--Monday, Nov. 16
--Tuesday, Nov. 17
--Thursday, Nov. 19
--Monday, Nov. 23
--Tuesday, Nov. 24
No appointments are necessary.
The health department said that it expects to receive more vaccine over the coming weeks and they have been informed that there will be enough for everyone over time.
