Rebecca Fitzgerald was the winner of a logo contest staged by Specialty Meats & Gourmet and Venison America, 494 County A in the town of Hudson.

To design a new logo for their private label brand, Kent Phillips of Specialty Meats & Gourmet contacted Jane Nicol of Stone Soup Gallery for art ideas.

A contest was opened to all of Stone Soup Gallery’s 2D artists to design an image that would possess the company’s look and feel. Six artists, including Fitzgerald entered the contest. All paintings had elements that Specialty Meats & Gourmet was looking for. It came down to which painting portrayed their product line best.

Longtime Hudsonite Fitzgerald, who now lives in Hammond, received her B.S. Degree in Art from UW-River Falls. For 25 years she has been a drawing and painting artist and has a home studio in Hammond.

Stone Soup Gallery, 225 Locust St., is in the old post office in downtown Hudson.
