‘Playing For Change’ visits Hudson

A group representing “Playing For Change” visited the Hudson Middle School Friday, Nov. 6.

Playing For Change was started by a small crew of filmmakers who traveled around the world recording and filming live performances by over 100 musicians on five continents. The Playing For Change Movement shows how music can bring together people from all cultures.

The Playing For Change Foundation was born when musicians in Guguletu, South Africa, told the crew they would appreciate a new music school for the children in their poverty-stricken township. The first Playing For Change music school, scheduled to open later this year, will provide hope and inspiration to children who face violence and suffering daily. This is the first of many schools being built in poor areas around the world to provide safe learning centers and positive mentoring opportunities for children who need it most.

Middle school teacher Christina Glover said the music group representing the organization ended up in Hudson when a concert planned in the Twin Cities was cancelled. For more information about the movement go to www.playingforchange.org.
