The Department of Health Services (DHS) announced today that public health departments and private health care providers may start vaccinating any member of the general public for H1N1.
Hudson students will be able to receive the H1N1 flu vaccine at two clinics scheduled for this week. The clinics, which are sponsored by the Hudson School District in cooperation with St. Croix County Public Health, are open to students from Hudson public schools as well as those from St. Patrick’s, Trinity Academy, other private schools and home-schooled students. These clinics are not open to the general public.
The first was scheduled at the Hudson Middle School on Wednesday, Dec. 16 from 11 a.m.-2:15 p.m. and 2:45 p.m.-7 p.m. A second clinic is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 17 at Hudson High School from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 3-7 p.m.
The clinics are extended into the evening to allow for younger students to receive the vaccine accompanied by their parents. Students in grade 6-12 do not require a parent or guardian present at the time of immunization. Students in grades kindergarten through fifth-grade must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to receive the vaccine.
A clinic for the general public has been scheduled for Monday, Dec. 21, noon-5 p.m. at St. Croix County Public Health, 1445 N. Fourth St., in New Richmond. The department’s regular walk-in immunization clinic will also administer H1N1 vaccine to anyone.
No appointments are necessary and the vaccine is free at both school and public health clinics.
