Introduction to Weaving for students ages 7 and up will be offered Saturday, Feb. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Phipps Center for the Arts.
In this class, new weavers will be introduced to weaving on two different looms. Students will learn several techniques on a two-harness table loom, including tabby, meet and join tapestry, and log cabin, to weave a table runner. On a four-harness loom, students will use twill patterns to create a placemat. Class size is limited to six students, so early registration is encouraged. Participants should bring a sack lunch.
Instructor Judy Larson has been weaving for seven years. She is a second grade teacher at Glenwood City, and has a weaving studio at Color Crossing in Roberts. She has a special interest in getting students to discover the challenges of weaving, and uses small looms in her classroom. She is a member of the Minnesota Weaver’s Guild and has demonstrated weaving at the Minnesota State Fair.
The class fee is $49. To enroll, send the fee to The Phipps Center for the Arts, 109 Locust Street, Hudson, WI 54016; call (715) 386-2305 to register with a Visa or MasterCard; or go to www.ThePhipps.org.
