As part of his "Grow Wisconsin" initiative to invest in Wisconsin's infrastructure and stimulate the state's economy, Gov. Jim Doyle recently signed a $4.4 million contract to have the St. Croix River Bridge in Hudson painted.

Era Valdivia Contractors, Inc, is the prime contractor of the project. Work is expected to begin in May and be completed by the end of September.

During the time the bridge is being painted, shoulders will be closed and all four eastbound lanes of I-94 will be shifted and narrowed. No lane closures are expected for the main project.

However, various lane closures will be allowed during off-peak hours for setup of traffic control and the construction and teardown of the painting enclosure.

Approximately 40 percent of the project will be covered by federal transportation funds; 50 percent from Minnesota state funds and 10 percent will be paid by Wisconsin.
